Trauma therapy sessions with a Clinical Psychologist that involve subconscious reprocessing form part of an integrated clinical approach at the practice. The work is offered to clients interested in engaging directly with the implicit beliefs, emotional responses and learned patterns that often sit beneath conscious awareness — the material that drives habitual reactions, recurrent emotional patterns, and longstanding self-beliefs that talk therapy may identify but doesn’t always update at the level it was originally encoded.
These sessions draw on contemporary research in two related areas: memory reconsolidation — the neuroscience of how previously formed emotional learning can be accessed and updated when specific conditions are met — and implicit cognition, the dual-process understanding that much of what shapes our emotional responses operates outside deliberate, verbal awareness. This is the same research base that informs how experienced clinicians integrate experiential, imagery-based and somatic interventions alongside cognitive and behavioural work.
Subconscious trauma reprocessing with our Gold Coast Clinical Psychologist is delivered alongside — not in place of — primary evidence-based psychological therapy, and is integrated with each client’s broader treatment plan where clinically indicated. The work is structured, clinically considered on a case-by-case basis, and most appropriate for clients who are also engaged in, or have completed, primary therapeutic work.

Ready to create real change
Suitable for anyone 22 years and older who is ready to create real change. It is especially powerful for:
Whether you want to heal, grow, or optimise, this work meets you where you are and takes you toward where you want to be. It may be of particular interest to clients who:
These sessions are most appropriate for clients also engaged in, or who have completed, primary therapeutic work with a Clinical Psychologist or other registered mental health practitioner. They can occur in person in our Bundall practice or, at the Clinical Psychologist’s discretion, via telehealth.
Collaborative, paced and clinically contained
Sessions typically begin with a discussion of what you’d like to explore — usually a recurring emotional pattern, self-belief or response that has surfaced through your therapeutic work. From there, the session moves into a more experiential format, using guided imagery, focused attention and structured engagement with the material at an implicit level.
The pace is collaborative throughout. You remain in control of the depth and direction of the work, and any material is approached gradually within a clinically contained framework.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, though double sessions of 100 minutes are available if clinically indicated. Following each session, you’re encouraged to bring observations and reflections back to your primary therapy, so insights can be integrated into your broader treatment plan.
