Fees & Rebates

Psychology Fees & Rebates

Investing in your mental health is a big step, and we want the cost side of it to be clear and predictable. Here’s how fees, Medicare rebates and other funding work for psychology sessions at Vitality Unleashed.

Private practice · not bulk-billed

Our session fees

All psychology sessions run for a full 50 minutes. Your first (initial) consultation attracts a one-off surcharge over and above the standard subsequent-session fee, as more time goes into setting up your file, assessment and treatment planning.

Ashley Gilmour
Principal Clinical Psychologist
Medicare rebate $149.05 per session
Initial
$370
Subsequent
$350
Kaitlin Briski
Psychologist
Medicare rebate $101.55 per session
Initial
$290
Subsequent
$270

Your out-of-pocket “gap” is the difference between the fee and the rebate — $200.95 per subsequent session with Ashley, or $168.45 with Kaitlin, for eligible clients with a current plan.

Couples & family therapy

Provided by Ashley · not claimable through Medicare · fees shown are per 50-minute session.

If a session runs over time at your request, additional time is charged pro-rata at the full consultation rate.

With a referral & treatment plan

Medicare rebates

With a valid referral and mental health treatment plan from your GP or psychiatrist, Medicare rebates part of the cost of each psychology session back to you. The rebate depends on your psychologist’s registration:

Clinical Psychologist
Rebate per session
$149.05
Registered Psychologist
Rebate per session
$101.55

Rebate amounts apply from 1 July 2026. Medicare indexes these rates each 1 July. The difference between our fee and the rebate is your out-of-pocket “gap.”

Referral plans that unlock rebates
10
Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)

Up to 10 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions per calendar year (January–December).

40
Eating Disorder Plan (EDP/EDMP)

Up to 40 Medicare-rebated psychology sessions, plus up to 20 dietitian sessions, within a 12-month referral period.

You don’t need a referral to start seeing us — but you do need a current plan in place if you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate. If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible, book in with your GP to discuss it.

Rebate back fast

Same-day Medicare claiming

When you’re eligible for a rebate under an MHCP or EDP and we hold your current referral and Medicare details, we lodge your Medicare claim on the same day as your attended session, via Tyro Health Online.

Your rebate is usually back in your nominated bank account within 1–24 hours on business days — much faster than manually lodged claims. (Medicare can only process a rebate after an appointment has actually been attended.)

Six pathways

Other ways to fund your sessions

Private health insurance

If your level of cover includes psychology, you may be able to claim part of the fee back through your fund. You can’t use both Medicare and private health for the same session — check your cover directly.

WorkCover Queensland

Where your psychology sessions are approved and funded by WorkCover Queensland, we liaise directly with your case manager and provide the progress reports they require as a condition of funding.

Insurers & third-party funders

Sessions funded by a CTP, life or income-protection insurer (or a professional sporting body) are arranged directly with the funder; written approval is confirmed before your first appointment.

NDIS

We welcome self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants. Our standard consultation fees (listed above) apply and must be paid in full before your appointment. We’ll then provide a receipt so you can claim reimbursement from your plan manager or the NDIA — the NDIS reimburses psychology sessions at $252.99, so where our fee is higher than this you’ll be out of pocket the difference. We are not a registered NDIS provider, so we’re unable to see NDIA-managed (agency-managed) participants.

Self-funded

You’re very welcome to see us privately with no referral or funding at all — simply pay the consultation fee.

Please note

Vitality Unleashed Psychology does not accept Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) referrals for new clients.

Pre-paid practice

Paying for your appointment
